To enable learners to achieve the language competency levels specified by the internationally accepted Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), developed by the European Council, the Task-based and Communicative Approaches have been incorporated into the B.A. (Hons.) German programme. The Task-based and Communicative Approaches are the most recent foreign language teaching methodologies adopted around the world. This programme seeks to cover three major areas of study, which are as follows: study of the German language through the development of four core skills, reading, writing, listening, and speaking; study of the language for specific purposes, such as Business German, German for Tourism, Translation, and so on; and study of socio-political institutions as well as literary, historical, and cultural movements in Germany and the German-speaking world.
